Space Frame

Frame concept 2

The weight of the frame is 164,6 Kg mainly due to a smaller wall thickness of the tube compared to the prior iteration. This is a significant weight reduction. The downside to this concept is that there is a lot less space for turbochargers and exhaust.

Above a FEA is made of the frame. 10.000 Nm is put on the rear of the frame and the front is constraint at the front suspension interfaces. the frame turns 0,326 deg. Thus it has a stiffness of 30675 Nm/deg.

The weight of space first frame is 256 KG. a large wall thickness tube is used which can be reduced if after FEA strength is not impacted to much.

Below occupant size and fitment is determined

four occupants are considered

female 1570 mm

male 1780 mm tall

male 1900 mm tall

male 2160 mm tall (will just hit head on roof and shin or kneecap on frame bar)

goal is to fit 1900 mm tall person including helmet inside car and inside roll cage protection.

below is a 1900 mm person in top view

below the front view of 1570 1780 and 1900 mm tall person respectively

the cross section below shows an 2160 mm tall male occupant just hitting his head on the roof of the door body. The gray translucent part of the seat is the volume model of the biggest Recaro racing seat available showing it fits inside the passenger compartment.

A person of 2160 mm of 7 foot and 1 inch sitting in the car depicted below. one has to take into account that the actual body of the car is slightly bigger than the cage and bulges out in the location of the head. because of this a person of this size can almost fit.

A person of 2160 mm is a snug fit, but nonetheless still fits. keep in mind the tube above the head is also to the side of the head.

The tube hitting the kneecap can be moved slightly for a person of 2160 mm height, but the current design we remain. If we ever encounter a customer of that height wanting such a car we will adapt that one frame for more leg room.

No need to alter the frame for a normally 1870 mm tall person
